Supernatural has been on TV long enough that Jensen Ackles feels he has grown up in front of the camera.
“It’s a very common phrase we use on set: ‘Wow, you were much better in your 20s,’ ” Ackles said. “And it applies to a lot of people.”
Ackles may have turned 32 earlier this year, but neither he nor his character on Supernatural have slowed down. In fact, when Supernatural airs its fifth-season finale on Thursday, (CW, Sun-TV in Ontario), the series essentially will wrap up the main spooky storyline that has played out over a half-decade. If there’s anything Jensen Ackles has learned from Jared Padalecki, his co-star on The CW drama “Supernatural,” it’s that an off-screen friendship can go a long way toward building believable on-screen camaraderie. Zap2it caught up with the demon-hunting duo at Creation Entertainment’s Salute to Supernatural in Los Angeles on Sunday (March 28).
“The most important thing I’ve learned from working with Jared is how crucial chemistry is for something to be successful in this industry,” Ackles says. “I think if the two lead actors — whether it’s brothers, or a husband and wife — if they don’t have chemistry, then it’s not going to work. Good friendship and solidarity has been a crucial aspect of our success.” (more…)
Supernatural doesn’t come back with new eps for another two weeks, but we know fans are starting to go a little stir-crazy. Fear not! We’ve got your back — because we’ve got Jensen Ackles!
Yep, we talk to the man behind Dean at the 100th episode party about challenging acting jobs, favorite eps, the brotherly bond, and just what he thinks of the fans (spoiler alert: he likes us all!). Check it out!
Screencaps from the video posted in the previous news have been added to the gallery together with over 1000 HD screencaps from the last episode of Supernatural, “The Song Remains the Same”. I just added also 10 clips of this episode, check them at the media archive ^__-
This one’s pretty simple: The cast and crew of “Supernatural” love their fans as much as their fans love them.
Or almost as much. The depth of “Supernatural” Nation’s ardor for all things Winchester-related is, as far as we know, limitless.
The show celebrated the filming of its 100th episode recently, and our friends at The CW Source were on hand to chat with the likes of Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Misha Collins and several members of the show’s production team. The theme? One of heartfelt thanks to all the people who have watched over the past five seasons.
Corny? Maybe. But you get the sense that they really mean it. Judge for yourself.
Thanks to the guys at SupportSupernatural.com for delivering this amazing interview to us!! Kurt talks briefly about Jensen and Jared during this interview! ^__^ The last question is after the “Read more…” because probably someone could find it a bit “spoilery”.
How do you like playing the badass angel? “Zachariah” is a really great role!
I love playing Zach. I think he’s got a great sense of humor and an incredibly imaginative way of wreaking havoc on Sam and Dean.
Some actors say that they bring a little bit of themselves to each role they play. In what way (if any) are you like Zachariah?
Zachariah is very determined and he believes in himself, but he’s also a bit awkward. Me too.
Tell us what it is like on set for you. It is all hard work and long hours, or do you get to goof around at all?
Because it is hard work and long hours goofing around is absolutely essential. I think the great attitude among the cast and crew starts at the top. Jared and Jensen are such good guys, as are the producers, that everybody feels loose and that makes the work more fun.
Do you ever find yourself laughing at the lines Jensen delivers, or are you able to keep that straight face throughout? Also if you do laugh, could you give an example of a scene that just had you laughing?
Oh my God. I can’t pick just one. Oh wait, yes I can. There was an intense scene in “Lucifer Rising” where I’m face to face with Dean telling him, as usual, “Get with the program or else!” At the same time I had broken (temporarily) Sam’s legs so he was on the floor at my feet. At home, you saw me an inch from Dean’s face glowering and threatening. What you didn’t see was Jared, off camera with a compressed air can the camera people use to blow dust off the lenses, sticking the nozzle up my pants leg and blasting me with air. True story.
